{"id":574,"date":"2024-06-19T18:20:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-19T18:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/signspecialist.com\/faq\/?page_id=574"},"modified":"2024-06-19T18:51:06","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T18:51:06","slug":"can-you-match-my-color","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/signspecialist.com\/faq\/questions-about-design\/can-you-match-my-color\/","title":{"rendered":"Can you match my color?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 125px; float: left; margin: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.signspecialist.com\/bullseye-125.png\" alt=\"color match icon\" \/>Yes, and well No.\u00a0 And also: It Depends.<\/p>\n<p>Color matching is on a case by case basis.\u00a0 95% of the colors can be matched with no problem.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>What we can not match exactly?\u00a0 Some vehicle colors.\u00a0 We print colors and vehicles are painted.\u00a0 That is the first strike against an exact match.\u00a0 Added to this there are different lusters and depths (candied, perls, metallics).\u00a0 Body shops even have problems,\u00a0even with the\u00a0exact paint can from\u00a0the manufacturer.\u00a0 \u00a0Many times they can not just paint one fender and it matches another panel.\u00a0 Even with the exact paint.\u00a0 Even at times from the same can of paint the car was originally painted from.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Even a few months later, after the original has been exposed to UV rays the color changes slightly.\u00a0 Not\u00a0enough anyone would notice,\u00a0until a new\u00a0section is painted.\u00a0 Also in the can, paint can degrade over time and no longer match the original.\u00a0 Even with color matching equipment (which we have), paint MOST of the time does not match exactly other paint.\u00a0 It has to be feathered from one area to the next so the eye doesn&#8217;t notice the difference.\u00a0 \u00a0Those are normal issues with matching paint to paint.\u00a0 Matching Ink to paint is even harder.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Can it be done?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Well sort of.\u00a0 Just like the paint needs to be feathered to trick the eye, similar needs done when matching ink to paint.\u00a0 If there is a separation of the two areas by just an inch or so (say a border or trim), the eye will not notice the difference\u00a0between the ink and paint colors.\u00a0 Right on top of each other, the difference will be noticeable.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing worse than seeing two colors that are ALMOST the same, but obviously are not.\u00a0 Never want it to look like you tried to match and failed.\u00a0 Again the trick is to create some separation between the ink and paint.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To review, just like matching paint on paint is difficult to impossible in the paint industry&#8230;\u00a0 A similar\u00a0issue is found in the printing industry.\u00a0 The trick is to create some separation\u00a0and nobody will be the wiser that one surface is printed ink and the other is painted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, and well No.\u00a0 And also: It Depends.
